Pleasant surprise: I'd previously installed #Lagrange browser to view some #gemini pages and come to see that it also supports #gopher. I was already comfortable using #Lynx for browsing gopherspace, but it's good to have options.

Oh yeah! Apparently there was a gopher resurgence at some point and there's a pretty active gopher underground. ðŸ˜

I barely remember using gopher at the uni so it's quite a blast from the past.

After seeing a lot of recent references to gemini, I decided to go back and check out gopher. I'm glad I did.

Paul Lindner is on social.coop. He was the lead dev on University of Minnesota gopher back in the day. Gemini is certainly interesting for those of us who spent time in gopherspace, but I fear it's a bit like releasing a new and improved betamax or an open source fork of internet explorer or a new and improved Titanic. Those ships have sailed.
